Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent rolls
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup Sprite or 7UP
- A pinch of ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Apples:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and core the apples, then cut each into 4 wedges.
- Wrap Apples:
- Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
- Place an apple wedge on the wide end of each triangle, roll up starting at the wide end, and pinch to seal.
- Place in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Make Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour this mixture over the dumplings in the baking dish.
- Add Fizz:
- Gently pour the Sprite or 7UP around the edges of the pan, careful not to disturb the sugar mixture.
- Bake:
- Sprinkle dumplings with a pinch of nutmeg.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown and apples are tender.
