This Candied Pineapple is a deliciously chewy, sweet, and slightly tangy treat that’s perfect for snacking, baking, or gifting. Made by slowly simmering pineapple rings in sugar syrup and then drying them until they become perfectly glazed and slightly crystallized, this homemade treat is better than store-bought!

Ingredients

  • 1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and sliced into rings or chunks
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for warmth)
  • Extra sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pineapple

  1. Peel, core, and slice the fresh pineapple into rings or chunks.
  2. Pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Step 2: Make the Sugar Syrup

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat.
  2. Stir until sugar dissolves, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add pineapple slices and simmer for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 3: Dry the Pineapple

  1. Remove pineapple slices and place them on a wire rack to dry for 12–24 hours.
  2. Optionally, roll in extra sugar for a crystallized effect.

Step 4: Serve & Store

  • Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Use in baking, cocktails, or as a decorative topping!
