Amazing Southern Pecan Pie

Golden, gooey, and packed with toasty pecans, it’s the kind of dessert that brings comfort with every bite. Whether you’re already a fan or new to this classic, let’s explore why pecan pie has such a firm place in America’s culinary soul.

Ingredients

🥧 For the Pie:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie crust
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs 🥚
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter 🧈
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves or pieces (toasted, if desired) 🌰

Optional (but awesome):

  • 1 tbsp bourbon 🥃 (adds depth!)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving 🍦

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place your pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges as you like.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt until well combined.
  4. Stir in the pecans and optional bourbon.
  5. Pour the filling into the unbaked pie shell.
  6. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly jiggly. If the crust starts browning too fast, cover the edges with foil.
  7. Cool completely before slicing — this allows the filling to fully set.

Notes

Tip from Grandma’s Kitchen 👵🏼:

Want a little twist? Add a handful of chocolate chips 🍫 to the filling before baking for a rich, sweet surprise.
