Making your own stuffed olives at home is simple, fun, and allows you to experiment with flavors.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Basic Stuffed Olives

  • 1 jar of large green olives (pitted)
  • Your choice of stuffing (pimentos, cheese, garlic, etc.)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (for marinating)
  • Herbs like rosemary, oregano, or thyme (for extra flavor)
  • Cracked black pepper & sea salt (to taste)

Instructions

Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Olives

  • Drain the olives and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • If they’re not pre-pitted, use an olive pitter or small knife to remove the pit.

Step 2: Prepare the Filling

  • If using cheese, soften it at room temperature for easy stuffing.
  • Cut garlic cloves, jalapeños, or almonds into small pieces that fit inside the olives.

Step 3: Stuff the Olives

  • Using a small spoon, piping bag, or even a toothpick, gently fill each olive.
  • Be careful not to overstuff, or the filling may spill out.

Step 4: Marinate for Extra Flavor (Optional)

  • Toss the stuffed olives with olive oil, herbs, and a pinch of salt & pepper.
  • Let them sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb more flavor.

Step 5: Serve & Enjoy

  • Serve them as is, add them to cheeseboards, pasta, or cocktails, or store them in the fridge for later.

Notes

How to Store Stuffed Olives

Stuffed olives can be stored for later use:

  • Refrigerate: Keep in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Marinate for Extra Flavor: Store them in olive oil with herbs and garlic for enhanced taste.
  • Freeze (Not Recommended): Freezing can change their texture, making them too soft.
