Ingredients
For the Brisket:
- 3-4 lb beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Dry Rub:
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
For the Sauce:
- 1 cup beef broth
- ½ cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Brisket
- Trim excess fat from the brisket, leaving about ¼ inch for flavor.
- In a small bowl, mix the dry rub ingredients together.
- Rub the olive oil all over the brisket, then coat generously with the dry rub, pressing it into the meat.
Step 2: Sear for Maximum Flavor (Optional but recommended!)
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little oil.
- Sear the brisket for 2-3 minutes per side until a golden-brown crust forms.
- Transfer the brisket to the slow cooker.
Step 3: Make the Sauce & Slow Cook
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and honey.
- Pour the sauce over the brisket in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or HIGH for 5-6 hours, until the brisket is fall-apart tender.
Step 4: Rest & Slice
- Transfer the brisket to a cutting board and let it rest for 10-15 minutes to keep it juicy.
- Slice against the grain for tender pieces.
- Spoon the sauce from the slow cooker over the brisket for extra moisture.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
- Serve warm with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, coleslaw, or in sandwiches.
- Drizzle extra sauce over the top and enjoy this tender, flavor-packed brisket!
