Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Basil Lemon Butter Sauce:
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Juice of 1 lemon
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
- ¼ cup chicken broth (or white wine for extra depth)
Instructions
Step 1: Season & Sear the Chicken
- Pat the chicken breasts dry and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C).
- Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Step 2: Make the Basil Lemon Butter Sauce
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in chicken broth (or white wine), lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped fresh basil and stir to combine.
Step 3: Combine & Serve
- Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top.
- Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Garnish with extra basil and lemon slices.
