To make this flavor-packed basil chicken, you’ll need:

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Basil Lemon Butter Sauce:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • ¼ cup chicken broth (or white wine for extra depth)

Instructions

Step 1: Season & Sear the Chicken

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C).
  4. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Basil Lemon Butter Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in chicken broth (or white wine), lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Add chopped fresh basil and stir to combine.

Step 3: Combine & Serve

  • Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top.
  • Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  • Garnish with extra basil and lemon slices.
