Ingredients
For the Noodles:
- 2 packs instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil (for nutty depth)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (for umami flavor)
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (adds slight sweetness)
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for deep umami)
- 1 tsp sriracha or chili flakes (optional for heat)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar (adds balance)
- 1 tsp brown sugar (for a hint of sweetness)
- 1 tbsp water (to loosen the sauce)
Toppings (Optional but Recommended!):
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (for spice lovers)
- 1 soft-boiled egg (for a rich, creamy finish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Ramen Noodles
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook ramen noodles according to package instructions (usually 2-3 minutes).
- Drain and set aside, tossing with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Make the Sesame Garlic Sauce
- In a pan or wok, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sriracha (if using), rice vinegar, brown sugar, and water.
- Let the sauce simmer for 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
Step 3: Toss the Noodles in the Sauce
- Add the cooked ramen noodles into the pan.
- Toss well until fully coated in the sauce.
- Let it cook for another minute so the noodles absorb the flavors.
Step 4: Garnish & Serve
- Transfer the noodles to a serving bowl.
- Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, green onions, and red pepper flakes.
- Top with a soft-boiled egg (optional but delicious).
