- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- ½ tsp sea salt flakes (optional, for garnish)
- ½ cup chopped pecans, almonds, or toffee bits (optional, for crunch)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Baking Sheet
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, then spray lightly with nonstick spray.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer, covering the entire pan.
Step 2: Make the Toffee
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and stir in brown sugar.
- Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbling.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
Step 3: Bake & Melt the Chocolate
- Place the baking sheet in the oven for 5 minutes, allowing the toffee to soak into the crackers.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
- Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
Step 4: Add Toppings & Chill
- Sprinkle with sea salt flakes, chopped nuts, or toffee bits for extra crunch.
- Let cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1 hour until set.
Step 5: Break & Serve
