Ingredients
Banana Cake:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil

Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, gently beat together the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla with a handheld electric mixer.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the sifted dry ingredients to the wet and mix until smooth and thoroughly combined.
- Bake: Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely.
- Prepare Frosting: For the frosting, in a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, and vanilla together until smooth. Add the sugar and beat on low speed until incorporated. Increase the speed to high and mix until very light and fluffy.
- Frost the Cake: Frost the cake with cream cheese frosting when the cakes have cooled completely.
