Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 ½ cups peanut butter (creamy or chunky)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups heat-treated all-purpose flour (see step below for safety!)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup mini chocolate chips
For the Topping (Optional but Delicious!):
- ½ cup peanut butter chips or chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp peanut butter (for smoothness)
Instructions
Step 1: Heat-Treat the Flour (For Safety!)
- Spread flour on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
- Let it cool completely before using.
(This step kills any bacteria in raw flour, making it safe to eat!)
Step 2: Make the Peanut Butter Dough
- In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Add in heat-treated flour and salt, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Fold in mini chocolate chips for extra goodness.
Step 3: Shape & Chill the Bars
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Press the cookie dough mixture evenly into the dish.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
Step 4: Add the Topping (Optional but Amazing!)
- Melt peanut butter chips (or chocolate chips) with 1 tbsp peanut butter in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Spread over the top of the chilled dough.
- Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips for decoration.
Step 5: Slice & Enjoy!
- Chill for an additional 10 minutes to set.
- Slice into bars or squares and serve!
