Ingredients
For the Peach Filling:
- 2 cups fresh sliced peaches (or canned peaches, drained)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (balances the sweetness)
For the Cobbler Topping:
- 1 cup Bisquick mix (or all-purpose flour)
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup melted butter
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder (if using flour instead of Bisquick)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Peaches
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, mix sliced peaches, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and lemon juice.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Step 2: Make the Cobbler Batter
- In another bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix (or flour), sugar, milk, baking powder, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the cobbler batter over the butter—do not stir.
Step 3: Assemble & Bake
- Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter.
- Do not stir—the batter will rise up around the peaches while baking.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
