With its creamy texture, a hint of lemon zest, and a touch of vanilla, this no-bake treat is bound to satisfy your dessert cravings without the fuss. The best part? You likely have all the ingredients already sitting in your kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 400 ml (13.5 fl oz) milk
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 40g (1.4 oz) sugar
  • 15 g (0.5 oz) cornstarch
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) condensed milk

Optional Toppings

  • Cinnamon
  • Cocoa powder
  • Shaved chocolate

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Milk Base

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, lemon zest, and vanilla sugar. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  1. Create the Thickening Base

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch. Once the milk mixture is boiling, pour a small amount of it into the yolk mixture to temper it, then slowly add the yolk mixture back to the saucepan, stirring constantly.
  • Continue cooking on low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens to a custard-like consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  1. Add Lemon and Condensed Milk

  • Once the mixture has cooled slightly, add the lemon juice and condensed milk. Beat the mixture until it becomes thick and smooth.

  1. Refrigerate and Serve

  • Pour the mixture into serving glasses or bowls. Decorate with your choice of cinnamon, cocoa, or chocolate. Place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
