- 1 small head green cabbage (chopped into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 medium Vidalia onion (chopped)
- 8 tablespoons butter (melted)

Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or casserole dish.
Step 2: Cook the Cabbage & Onions
- In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in chopped cabbage, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is slightly softened.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
- Transfer the cooked cabbage and onions to the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the remaining 4 tablespoons of melted butter over the top.
- If using cheese, sprinkle ½ cup shredded cheddar evenly over the cabbage mixture.
- In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers) with garlic powder, paprika, and a bit of melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole for a crispy topping.
Step 4: Bake
- Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
