Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
- Drain and chop the maraschino cherries, then pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
Step 2: Make the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
Step 3: Combine the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Step 4: Add the Cherries & Chocolate
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and maraschino cherries.
- Be careful not to overmix, as too much stirring can break the cherries apart.
Step 5: Shape & Bake
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Pro Tips for the Best Cookies
✔ Dry the Cherries Well – Too much moisture can make the cookies spread too much.
✔ Use Good-Quality Chocolate – Semi-sweet, dark, or even white chocolate all work great!
✔ Chill the Dough – If the dough feels too soft, chill it for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
