Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you love chocolate chip cookies and want to add a fun, fruity twist, these Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are just what you need! With sweet, juicy cherries and rich, melty chocolate chips, these cookies are soft, chewy, and utterly irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them.
  3. Drain and chop the maraschino cherries, then pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Step 2: Make the Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.

Step 3: Combine the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Step 4: Add the Cherries & Chocolate

  1. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and maraschino cherries.
  2. Be careful not to overmix, as too much stirring can break the cherries apart.

Step 5: Shape & Bake

  1. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Pro Tips for the Best Cookies

✔ Dry the Cherries Well – Too much moisture can make the cookies spread too much.
✔ Use Good-Quality Chocolate – Semi-sweet, dark, or even white chocolate all work great!
✔ Chill the Dough – If the dough feels too soft, chill it for 30 minutes to prevent spreading.
