Lunchroom Ladies Brownies-50 year old recipe!

With its rich chocolate flavor and perfectly soft texture, these brownies are a timeless treat that will bring a smile to anyone’s face.

Ingredients

  • For the Brownies:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

For the Icing:

  • Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk (canned milk or regular milk)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • A dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, cocoa, flour, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped nuts if using.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Check at the 20-minute mark to ensure they do not overcook. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan.

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, milk, cocoa, powdered sugar, and salt until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
