Ingredients
For the Kafta Kebabs:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (or a mix of beef and lamb)
- ½ cup finely chopped parsley
- 1 small onion, finely grated or minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For Serving (Optional but Recommended!):
- Pita bread
- Hummus or garlic sauce
- Grilled onions and tomatoes
- Rice or salad
- Fresh lemon wedges
Instructions
1. Prepare the Kafta Mixture
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, parsley, onion, garlic, and spices.
- Use your hands to combine the ingredients until well incorporated, but don’t overmix—this keeps the meat tender.
2. Shape the Kebabs
- Divide the meat mixture into equal portions (about 8-10 pieces).
- Roll each portion into a cylinder shape, about 4-5 inches long.
- If using skewers, shape the meat around them, pressing gently so they hold together. If not using skewers, simply form oval-shaped patties.
3. Cook the Kafta (Grill, Oven, or Stovetop!)
Option 1: Grill (Best for Smoky Flavor)
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Brush the grill with oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, turning until nicely charred and cooked through.
Option 2: Oven (Easy and Hands-Free!)
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange the kafta kebabs on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through. For extra browning, broil for 2 minutes at the end.
Option 3: Stovetop (Quick and Convenient!)
- Heat a pan or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Add a little olive oil and cook the kafta for 4-5 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked.
