Ingredients
For the Cod:
- 2 cod fillets (6 oz each)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Honey-Soy Glaze:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (for thickening, optional)
For Garnish:
- Sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Glaze
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce. Simmer for 1 more minute, then remove from heat.
Step 2: Cook the Cod
- Pat cod fillets dry and season with salt and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the cod for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and easily flakes with a fork.
Step 3: Glaze & Serve
- Brush or spoon the honey-soy glaze over the cod.
- Let the cod cook for 1 more minute, allowing the glaze to caramelize slightly.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
