This Honey-Soy Glazed Cod is a tender, flaky, and flavorful dish that’s incredibly easy to make! The perfect balance of sweet honey, savory soy sauce, and umami-rich garlic and ginger creates a glossy, caramelized glaze that enhances the mild, buttery texture of cod.

Ingredients

For the Cod:

  • 2 cod fillets (6 oz each)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Honey-Soy Glaze:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water (for thickening, optional)

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Glaze

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  3. If you prefer a thicker glaze, mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce. Simmer for 1 more minute, then remove from heat.

Step 2: Cook the Cod

  1. Pat cod fillets dry and season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the cod for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden brown and easily flakes with a fork.

Step 3: Glaze & Serve

  1. Brush or spoon the honey-soy glaze over the cod.
  2. Let the cod cook for 1 more minute, allowing the glaze to caramelize slightly.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
