Homemade Salsa

Ingredients

  • 56 ripe tomatoes, finely diced (or 1 can of fire-roasted tomatoes, drained)
  • ½ red onion, finely chopped
  • 12 jalapeños, finely diced (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin (optional, for extra depth)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Ingredients

  1. Finely dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeños.
  2. Chop the cilantro and mince the garlic.

Step 2: Mix Everything Together

  1. In a large bowl, combine the tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, garlic, and cilantro.
  2. Squeeze in the fresh lime juice and sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, and cumin.
  3. Stir well to combine.

Step 3: Taste & Adjust

  1. Taste the salsa and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  2. For a smoother consistency, pulse the salsa in a food processor for a few seconds.

Step 4: Chill & Serve

  1. Let the salsa sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Notes

Tips for the Best Salsa

✔ Use ripe tomatoes – The fresher, the better!
✔ Adjust the heat – Add more jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne for extra spice.
✔ Let it chill – Allowing the salsa to sit helps intensify the flavors.
✔ Blend it for smooth salsa – A quick pulse in a food processor makes a restaurant-style salsa.
