Homemade Fried Mozzarella Sticks 🧀

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups dry Italian breadcrumbs

  • 1⅓ cups grated Parmesan cheese, divided

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 (16 oz) packages mozzarella sticks

  • 4 large eggs, beaten

  • 1½ cups vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix breadcrumbs, 1 cup Parmesan, and salt.

  2. Cut mozzarella sticks in half.

  3. Dip each stick in beaten eggs, then into breadcrumb mixture. Repeat both steps to double coat.

  4. Place coated sticks on a baking sheet, cover, and freeze for at least 2 hours (or up to 3 months).

  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry cheese sticks in batches, about 1 minute per side, until golden brown.

  6. Transfer to paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan and serve immediately.
