Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for added nuttiness)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp ginger, minced
  • ½ tsp salt & black pepper

For the Stir-Fry Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (adds deep umami)
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (for slight sweetness)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (balances the flavors)
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (to thicken the sauce)

Optional Toppings & Sides:

  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for extra flavor)
  • Steamed rice or noodles (to serve)

Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Beef

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef, season with salt & pepper, and cook until browned (about 5 minutes).
  3. Drain excess grease if needed, then add garlic & ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 2: Cook the Broccoli

  1. Add broccoli florets to the pan with the beef.
  2. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
(For extra tender broccoli, cover the pan for 1-2 minutes to steam.)

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch mixture.
  2. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir well to coat the beef and broccoli.
  3. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!

  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
