Ingredients
- 4 Pita Breads
- 2 Chicken Breasts, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
- 1 cup Greek Yogurt
- 1 Cucumber, grated
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 Tomato, sliced
- 1/2 Red Onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup Feta Cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Marinate Chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken slices with olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Cook Chicken: Preheat a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken until it’s golden brown and thoroughly cooked, approximately 5-6 minutes on each side.
- Make Tzatziki Sauce: For the tzatziki sauce, in a separate bowl, mix together the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Set this aside for later.
- Warm Pita: Warm the pita breads slightly in the oven or on the grill pan, about a minute on each side, to make them pliable.
- Assemble Gyros: To assemble the gyros, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread. Layer on the chicken slices, tomato, red onion, crumbled feta, and parsley. Carefully roll the pita around the fillings.
- Serve: Serve the gyros immediately while everything is still warm and delicious.
