🧾 Recipe Card: Classic Greek Baklava

Ingredients

Nut Filling

  • 2 cups walnuts, chopped

  • 1 cup pistachios, chopped

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp cloves

Phyllo

  • 1 lb phyllo dough (thawed)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

Syrup

 

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • ½ cup honey

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Mix nuts, cinnamon, and cloves.

  2. Boil syrup ingredients for 10 mins. Cool and discard spices.

  3. Layer 8 phyllo sheets in pan, buttering each. Add nuts, 2 more phyllo, repeat. Top with 8–10 sheets.

  4. Cut into diamonds. Bake at 325°F for 50–60 mins.

  5. Pour cold syrup over hot baklava. Let soak uncovered for 6 hours. Enjoy!
