- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Optional: 1 teaspoon cornstarch (for thickening)
- Optional: Red chili flakes or chopped chili (for heat)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, brown sugar, soy sauce, and minced garlic.
- If you like it spicy, feel free to add red chili flakes or chopped chili to the mix.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it simmers, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved completely.
- To thicken the sauce, mix a teaspoon of cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to form a slurry. Stir this into the simmering sauce until well incorporated.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for a few more minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature with fishballs or other snacks.
