If you love tropical desserts that are creamy, refreshing, and naturally sweet, then this Easy Mango Sago Dessert is perfect for you! Originating from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, this delightful treat features sweet mango puree, chewy tapioca pearls (sago), and rich coconut milk, creating a silky, luxurious texture with a burst of fruity flavor.

Ingredients

For the Mango Sago Dessert:

  • ½ cup small tapioca pearls (sago)
  • 2 ripe mangoes, diced (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 cup coconut milk (or evaporated milk for a richer flavor)
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk (or adjust for sweetness)
  • ¼ cup water (or more for consistency)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra depth)

For Garnishing:

  • Extra diced mango
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Shredded coconut (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the Sago Pearls

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add the small tapioca pearls (sago).
  • Cook on medium heat for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Once the pearls turn translucent, drain and rinse under cold water.
  • Set aside in a bowl of cold water to prevent them from clumping.

2. Make the Mango Puree

  • In a blender, combine 1½ mangoes (diced), coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, and water.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more condensed milk if needed.

3. Combine Everything

  • Drain the cooked sago pearls and add them to the mango mixture.
  • Stir gently to combine.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for the flavors to meld and for a chilled dessert.

4. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Pour into serving bowls or glasses.
  • Top with extra diced mango, fresh mint, and shredded coconut for a tropical touch!
  • Serve cold and enjoy the refreshing flavors!
