Ingredients
Ingredients You’ll Need
- 1 (16-ounce) package frozen broccoli (or fresh, steamed)
- 1 (6-ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup (or cream of mushroom/chicken)
- 1 cup mayonnaise (or sour cream for a tangy twist)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (mild or sharp for extra flavor)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra depth)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder (adds a subtle savory kick)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs (for a crispy topping, optional)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (to mix with the breadcrumbs for added crunch)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- If using frozen broccoli, let it thaw and drain any excess water. If using fresh broccoli, steam it for 3-5 minutes until slightly tender but still vibrant green.
Step 2: Mix the Creamy Base
- In a large mixing bowl, combine:
- Condensed cream of celery soup
- Mayonnaise (or sour cream)
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper
- Stir until well combined and creamy.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
- Add the broccoli to the creamy mixture and stir until it’s evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- If using a breadcrumb or cracker topping, mix crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole for a golden, crispy top.
Step 4: Bake & Serve
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbling and golden brown on top.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy as a standalone dish or a side to complement chicken, steak, or turkey.
