Ingredients
Cake Batter:

1 cup flour

¾ cup sugar

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

¼ tsp salt

½ cup milk
-
2 tbsp melted butter
-
1 tsp vanilla
Topping:
-
½ cup brown sugar
-
¼ cup cocoa powder
-
1½ cups boiling water
Optional:
-
½ cup chocolate chips
-
Pinch espresso powder
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 8×8″ baking dish.

Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt. Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla until smooth.

Pour batter into dish.

Mix brown sugar + cocoa for topping. Sprinkle over batter.

Pour boiling water over the back of a spoon across the top. Do NOT stir.

Bake 30–35 mins. Top should be set; sauce will form underneath.

Let cool 10 mins. Serve warm with ice cream!
