Instructions
Step 1: Make the Cake
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2️⃣ In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3️⃣ In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
4️⃣ Add eggs and vanilla, and mix well.
5️⃣ Stir in mashed bananas and buttermilk until fully combined.
6️⃣ Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
7️⃣ Fold in chopped pecans.
8️⃣ Divide batter evenly between cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
9️⃣ Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Caramel Frosting
1️⃣ In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
2️⃣ Add brown sugar and heavy cream, and bring to a boil. Stir continuously for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
3️⃣ Let cool slightly, then whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Step 3: Make the Caramel Drizzle
1️⃣ Heat sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until melted and golden brown.
2️⃣ Add butter, stirring until combined.
3️⃣ Slowly pour in heavy cream, whisking until smooth.
4️⃣ Remove from heat and add salt. Let cool slightly.
Step 4: Assemble the Cake
1️⃣ Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with caramel frosting.
2️⃣ Add the second cake layer and cover the entire cake with frosting.
3️⃣ Drizzle with caramel sauce and top with pecan halves.
