Ingredients
- 1 (14 oz) block extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika (or smoked paprika for extra depth)
- ½ teaspoon cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon chili powder or cayenne (optional, for a spicy kick)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Tofu
- Press the tofu: Wrap in a clean towel, place a heavy object on top, and let it sit for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes, strips, or rectangles.
Step 2: Season the Tofu
- In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, paprika, cornstarch, black pepper, and chili powder.
- Toss tofu pieces in the mixture until fully coated.
Step 3: Air Fry the Tofu
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Arrange tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd).
- Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through until golden and crispy.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy
- Enjoy plain, as a protein in bowls, or with dipping sauces!
- Try it with sriracha mayo, teriyaki sauce, or peanut sauce.
