This Crispy Air Fryer Tofu is perfectly seasoned, golden brown, and crunchy on the outside while staying soft on the inside. Made with minimal oil and bursting with flavor, this high-protein, plant-based dish is quick, healthy, and incredibly delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) block extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (or smoked paprika for extra depth)
  • ½ teaspoon cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder or cayenne (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Tofu

  1. Press the tofu: Wrap in a clean towel, place a heavy object on top, and let it sit for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes, strips, or rectangles.

Step 2: Season the Tofu

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, paprika, cornstarch, black pepper, and chili powder.
  2. Toss tofu pieces in the mixture until fully coated.

Step 3: Air Fry the Tofu

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket (don’t overcrowd).
  3. Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through until golden and crispy.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy

  • Enjoy plain, as a protein in bowls, or with dipping sauces!
  • Try it with sriracha mayo, teriyaki sauce, or peanut sauce.
