2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cream butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

Dissolve baking soda in hot water and mix into dough with salt.

Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts.

Drop large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.

Let rest 2–5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
