Ingredients
- 1 cup white chocolate melting chips
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Zest from 1 orange
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp orange extract
- A few drops orange food coloring
- 1/2 cup confectioners sugar, divided
Instructions
1οΈβ£ Prepare the White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate melting chips in a medium bowl and set aside.
2οΈβ£ Cook the Orange Mixture: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter and orange zest. Cook for about 1 minute, allowing the zest to infuse the butter. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to prevent it from scalding. Continue stirring for another 2 minutes, then strain the mixture through a fine strainer over the white chocolate melting chips.
3οΈβ£ Melt the Chocolate: Let the mixture sit for about a minute to melt the white chocolate. Add in the orange extract and a few drops of orange food coloring. Whisk until mostly melted and smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 1-2 hours to firm up.
4οΈβ£ Prepare the Confectioners Sugar: Divide the confectioners sugar between two small bowls.
5οΈβ£ Form the Truffles: Scoop tablespoon-size balls of the truffle mixture and roll them into balls with your hands.
6οΈβ£ Coat in Sugar: Roll each truffle in one of the bowls of confectioners sugar, then place them on a cookie sheet. Once all of the truffles are rolled, re-roll them in the second bowl of confectioners sugar.
7οΈβ£ Chill: Place the truffles in the freezer for 20 minutes to set, then transfer them to the fridge until ready to serve.
