Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 12-pack KING’S HAWAIIAN® original sweet rolls
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (omit or reduce if not a fan)
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and spread it evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish, sheet pan, or another pan with sides.
2️⃣ Prepare the Rolls: Place the rolls over the butter in the prepared dish. Cut an X into each roll about 2/3 down, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom of the rolls.
3️⃣ Make the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture: In a measuring cup, stir together the 1/3 cup melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour this mixture evenly over the rolls, making sure to coat them well.
4️⃣ Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, stir the room temperature cream cheese until smooth. Add the granulated sugar and stir until smooth. Stir in the beaten egg until fully incorporated.
5️⃣ Fill the Rolls: Use a piping bag with a large tip to pipe the cream cheese mixture into the rolls. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a zip-top bag with the end snipped off or spoon the mixture into the rolls. It may take a little patience, but it’s worth it!
6️⃣ Bake: Bake the rolls uncovered at 375°F for 12-15 minutes, or until the rolls are cooked through and golden brown.
7️⃣ Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’ll keep for 3 to 4 days.
